The piece as it was created for Griffinge was a rigorously scrutinised and condensed version of a much larger body of text. An embryonic fusion of heartfelt love letters, imagined/remembered landscapes, personal philosophy, invented poetry, false dictionary meaning and unashamedly indulgent wordplay.
The plot (correct at time of publish)
Chux Mache and Goosy Moon are digging into the Common ground for the Common good. These two old school archaeologists have been assigned a slightly surreal dig site unearthing objects that have no meaning to them while trying to keep out of each other’s mental furniture. Their words find anchorage – meaning for them finds anchorage in the flamboyant and wildly enthusiastic love letters they write back home. Or maybe these are just empty letters and the important thing is the digging. There is the possibility a large bird is haunting their illegally acquired dig site masquerading as one or the other or both and the potential suicide of a much loved college to contend with.
